Who We Are
Rachel grew up overseas as a missionary kid. At the age of 18 she returned to Canada to attend University. She met and married her husband, Dan, in 1991. They have 3 adult children and 2 beautiful grand daughters. Rachel and Dan moved to the Moose Jaw area in 1997 and then into Moose Jaw proper in 2005. Rachel has had a long career in the hospitality industry; cooking and managing kitchens. In 2013 Rachel found herself unemployed and began to volunteer in the kitchen of Riverside Mission. November of that year she was hired to be the kitchen manager at Riverside Mission. In June of 2018 she stepped into the Administrator role and when the Executive Director resigned, the board asked her to step in as interim. She has a passion for the ministry at Riverside Mission and looks forward to serving the people of Moose Jaw for a long time.
Daniel grew up in Manitoba. He met and married his wife, Rachel, in 1992. They have 3 adult children and 2 beautiful grand daughters. They moved to the Moose Jaw area in 1997 and into Moose Jaw proper in 2005. In 2007 he graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelors degree in education. He began his General Contracting business in 2007 and continued until he took the Operations Manager position with Riverside Mission in 2014. During his time here, he has done many upgrades to our facility including new doors and windows, new ceiling in dining hall, new bunks in shelter room to name a few. He has a real heart for the men who come here for shelter and spends time with them every week listening to their stories, praying for them and helping them to get to where they need to be.
Jacob is studying at Briercrest College. He is taking Pastoral Studies and is using what he learns here at Riverside Mission. He is our Weekend Shift Support Supervisor. He started out volunteering for our social nights and now he is part of our staff. We are glad to have a great guy working on the weekends.
Larry James is a Briercrest Bible College graduate. He provides support in the shelter during the evening shift.
